No.11_Funeral

人の誕生や結婚式など、何かの始まりには周りからの祝福があるが、葬式はそうではなかった。故人が生前残した、色とりどりの幸せな思い出、一生懸命に生きた人生の一瞬一瞬が、残された人たちの悲しみによって消されてしまうようで切なくなった。僕の母は、最後に笑いながらこんなことを僕たち家族に言ってくれているのでないかと想像しながら、旅立った母にねぎらいと感謝の気持ちを込めた作品だ。

탄생도 결혼식도 출발점에 있는 일들은 모두에게 축 복을 받았는데 장례식장에서는 그렇지 않았다. 형형색색의 행복한 추억, 열심히 살아온 인생의 순간 들이 남은 이들의 슬픔으로 지워지는 것이 안타까웠 다. 마지막으로 웃으며 남은 가족들에게 이런 말을 하 지 않았을까? 상상하면서 그런 어머니 일생에 수고의 찬사를 보내며 인사하는 작품이다.

Beginnings, like births and weddings, are celebrated. But this was not the case at funerals. It is sad to see the colorful, happy memories left behind by the deceased; every moment of a life lived to the fullest is erased by the sadness of those left behind. I imagine my mother laughing and saying something like this to our family at the end of her life, and this work is my way of expressing my gratitude to her.
